Everybody knows the importance of the mouse when we are using the computer.. Imagine when you are working in your Pc at the night, the mouse suddenly stops working and you don't have an extra mouse.
It will be very difficult to you to face that situation, So.. what will you do next day??
As usual, go to the computer shop and you'll buy a new mouse spending about 500 rupees (5$). Isn't it? (OMG :O 500 rupees (5$)? i will never spend that much for a mouse
But you still don't know that you can fix your mouse most of the time very easily..
First of all, you have to check weather the power is available for the mouse. It's really simple for an optical mouse. If the lights are on it is powered
So, lets begin our mission. First of all we have to give the mouse a little wakeup. Even the computer sometimes forgets the mouse.
If you are using a ball mouse, sometimes you may face this problem. The ball mouse has to rollers which rotate with the ball. Most of the time these rollers get covered with dust and begin to malfunction. But it will not cause complete inaction. But still you can check it out.
From here, i'm discussing about wire mouse. 99% of errors in mouse are due to their low quality wires.
Most of the time the wires in a mouse get broken where they face bending. Normally a mouse has four wires which carries power and data. All four wires are protected by a housing made of a rubber, plastic compound. The wires get broken in the housing, so we can't see what happened there.
The probability that the wires can get broken is little bit higher in the marked areas. Because those two points always gets bended. Okey.. Lets get in to work
Find a soldering iron, some solder, a disoldering pump and a multi meter. If its a ball mouse, first you have to get the ball out. If its an optical mouse, nothing to worry, Start dissembling
(By the way, keep your eye on the parts. They may fly away from your hand

If it's an old mouse, you'll see the wires are plugged in to the circuit board as above picture. In a new mouse, the wires are normally soldered in to the board.
Before disoldering the wires, lets check weather the wires have loose connections or that they got short circuit. If there are, Lets begin our work.

Before we start, if it's a plug, you have to mark how it was plugged to the board. Normally it fits only one way. If the wires are soldered, then mark the colors and the places that they were soldered. Then take the wire out and cut it from a bending point.
Description
1 - mouse data
2 - Reserved
3 - Ground
4 - Mouse power (+5v)
5 - Mouse clock
6 - Reserved
Check the connectivity, if it works then solder the wires and assemble the mouse.
Sometimes the wire can break near the PS2 or USB port. Then you have to cut the plug and find a new Usb or PS2 connector.
And sometimes the mouse can be completely dead. Then you have to try giving it a new brain.
Here's a Skirt mouse. What do you think about that??
Galz take it easy
